She was also a Finalist in 1981 for the hardcover edition of Jacob Have I Loved and in 1982 for the paperback edition of The Master Puppeteer and the paperback edition of Jacob Have I Loved.. Jacob Have I Loved also won the Newbery Medal.
  • In 2014 The Great Gilly Hopkins will be turned into a movie starring Kathy Bates and Danny Glover. The screenplay was written by Paterson’s son, David Paterson.
